Blue mountains.
The mountains have this name from the special blue shade the trees have when the fumes of eucalyptus oil reflect the sunlight. The mountains are located only a
couple of hours from Sydney and the starting point is in a city called "Katoomba". For larger pictures and details, click on the image. |

The three sisters.
1000 feet below is a trekking route. On the left side of the cliffs is a stairway; "The Giant stairway". You go down the stairs and follow
the route around the cliffs and then you reach a little railway. It´s not the only route; there are
longer and more demanding walks, but for an untrained
"Bushwalker" it´s a hot trip with lots of humidity
and snakes ´n stuff. (No don´t worry, we
didn´t see any snakes).

Katoomba falls. This picture is taken without a tripod, but with firm support, long
shutter time and not a single breath for a minute. But I say it again ! Don´t forget the
tripod, like I did. It could have made this picture even better. |

Well, here it is. The Mountain-railway. With >1000 feet in length and 45° slope, this old mining-rail-way is one of the most steep in the world.
The railway used to carry miners to a coalmine.
A great trip, if you like the
always
screaming Japanese.

Just on top of the railway, this ropeway runs to the middle of the canyon and back. While you are hanging there, 10-1100 feet above
the ground, it is suppose to be quiet, so you can enjoy the view.
But ! There are always Japs´ on the ride. |
