Ayers rock (Uluru)
According to what I have heard this
rock
should be stunning at sunset or sunrise, but my car wouldn´t start at 5am.; it was also too cloudy and raining (for 3 days). So all I got was this photo, as a memory of driving 1000 miles to see a rock, which was closed for climbing because the rain had made it slippery |
|
I allmost ran over this lizard with my car. It just stood there on the road, when I was leaving Ayers rock. I can´t remember the name of the lizard, but it´s a speed runner; boy can it run fast. Looking at it through the camera, it was far away, but damn I could run, when it made a WHIZZ sound and ran towards me. |

Yep ! Of course! Or should I say Golf course. A golf range in the middle of the desert.
Cooper Pedy (which mean: "White
man´s hole in ground") is one big swich cheese, so why not
a couple of holes just for fun. This place is known by its Opal
mines. The town and the area around it are lying on a old inland
ocean. Shells and other sea animals died and created the layers of
opals on the bottom.

It is through holes like this the Opals are mined.
A maskine digs trough the ocean floor parallel to the surface and this "dust-cleaner" gets the material to the surface.
The mining takes place about 60 feet under and should pay off really well.
But where do the miners spend their money ?
I don´t know, cause I couldn´t find anything to do for
fun in this city.

Yeah ! Maybe building a home... underground.
60-70 feet below street level, it was possible to rent
a bed for the night and sleep undisturbed whithout seeing any
daylight.
Crocodile Harry´ dogout, he lives
in the mine that he still works in. Maybe you can recognize the place
? It was used as a location in the movie "Mad Max
III", (the one with Tina Turner).

Harry´s bedroom.
If you are a "shiela" and visited
Harry´ bedroom, then you probably also signed his wall. He
couldn´t say how many autographs he´s got, but make a
bid if you dare.
